This case study outlines the efforts of Mont-Laurier Vocational School in Quebec, Canada, to enhance its forestry training program through the integration of advanced simulation technology. The school, one of six institutions in the region offering forestry training, recognized the need to update its outdated training equipment to better prepare students for the demands of the industry. By adopting CM Labs' Vortex simulators, the school has significantly reduced the training time required for students to become proficient in operating heavy equipment. The results indicate that a dozen hours on a simulator equates to a week of traditional training, allowing students to gain confidence and skills in a safe environment. The case study details the advantages of simulation-based instruction, including improved student engagement and retention, as well as cost savings associated with reduced fuel consumption during field training. The collaboration with CM Labs has led to a curriculum that meets the evolving needs of the forestry sector, ultimately benefiting both students and the industry.
