This report outlines the current status of the Medicaid Transformation Project, a two-year initiative aimed at enhancing health access for underserved individuals while reducing costs for providers. Initially launched by Andy Slavitt and 17 health systems, the project has expanded to include 28 health systems, representing 350 hospitals across 25 states. The focus has been on improving behavioral health resources in underserved communities, driven by the significant need and cost challenges associated with mental health issues. The report details how executives from the healthcare innovation network AVIA evaluated over 150 digital solutions to address these challenges, leading to the selection of 11 effective tools. Future plans include addressing women and infant care and substance use disorder, with success measured through engagement and qualitative patient impact stories. The overarching goal is to foster continuous improvement in patient care through collaborative efforts among participating health systems.
