Centralized Backup Management Solution for IBM CIO

This case study details the implementation of a centralized backup management solution by the IBM Chief Information Officer (CIO) organization. The organization faced challenges due to its extensive infrastructure, which complicated backup management policies. To address these challenges, the CIO organization sought to streamline enterprise backup management by consolidating multiple siloed practices into a single cloud-based solution. The solution, developed in collaboration with Cobalt Iron, utilizes IBM Storage Protect and IBM Storage FlashSystem to provide a unified user experience for approximately 400 application owners. The centralized self-service portal allows users to configure, schedule, and execute backups efficiently, protecting tens of petabytes of critical production application data. The case study outlines the benefits of the solution, including enhanced data resilience and simplified backup operations, ultimately increasing productivity for application owners. The CIO organization plans to continue enhancing the solution in collaboration with Cobalt Iron to further improve its capabilities.
