This case study details the modernization of Fifth Third Bank's mobile application and its migration to the AWS cloud. The project involved rewriting the application architecture to enhance performance and address issues such as latency and interoperability with non-cloud applications. The solution included implementing a secured login and logout feature that allows users to access their accounts using a username, social security number, or credit card numbers. Tokenization was utilized to encrypt user credentials, thereby protecting against potential malicious attacks. The technology stack employed for this project included Ping Federate, Unbound Key Control, Spring Boot, and AWS, among others. The outcome of the modernization effort resulted in a new mobile application that offers enhanced security for user logins, modern banking features, and the scalability and efficiency benefits of cloud-based technologies. This initiative reflects Fifth Third Bank's commitment to improving its digital services and user experience.
