This technical report discusses the challenges faced by financial services organizations in achieving effective cyber recovery. It outlines the necessity for advanced cyber recovery planning due to the unique complexities and regulatory pressures within the FinServ sector. The report highlights that while traditional disaster recovery strategies are well-established, modern cyberattacks introduce new levels of disruption that demand innovative recovery approaches. The research, which surveyed 500 IT and security professionals, reveals that FinServ organizations often feel less prepared to recover from cyber incidents compared to their peers in other sectors. Despite this, they tend to report stronger recovery outcomes, although they face significant challenges in testing their recovery plans. The report emphasizes the need for improved strategies and solutions to enhance cyber resilience in the financial services industry, particularly given the increasing sophistication of cyber threats and the critical nature of their operations.
