This case study outlines the cybersecurity enhancement initiatives undertaken by a large teaching hospital system in response to increasing cyber threats. The hospital identified significant vulnerabilities in its IT infrastructure following a malware incident, prompting a collaboration with Compucom, Cisco, and Stratejm to develop a robust cybersecurity strategy. The action plan included creating an incident response plan and a business continuity plan, alongside enhancing Active Directory security and implementing tools to mitigate password vulnerabilities. Key solutions deployed involved the Cisco Umbrella suite for threat protection, Cisco Secure Email for safeguarding against phishing attacks, and Cisco Duo for multi-factor authentication. Managed security services provided by Stratejm included security information and event management, threat intelligence monitoring, and 24/7 security operations center support. The hospital's executive director emphasized the importance of these measures in ensuring the safety and efficiency of healthcare delivery, highlighting the proactive stance now adopted towards cybersecurity.
