This case study details the implementation of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) by Primary Residential Mortgage (PRMI) to enhance data security and address latency issues in their legacy desktop environment. Despite establishing a robust hardware setup with 22 ESXi hosts for 400 concurrent sessions, PRMI faced significant performance challenges due to excessive I/O. The study outlines how PRMI addressed these challenges by deploying Condusiv's DymaxIO optimization software, resulting in a 90% reduction in drive failures and improved system performance. The deployment of DymaxIO optimized I/O at the source within the Windows operating system, significantly reducing the number of I/Os required for file writing. This proactive approach not only alleviated the I/O load on backend storage but also enhanced overall system efficiency, leading to improved end-user experiences and heightened productivity. The case study emphasizes the importance of I/O optimization in virtual environments and highlights the substantial benefits realized by PRMI following the implementation of DymaxIO.
