This case study outlines the challenges faced by a global automotive manufacturer in conducting a document review for litigation support involving 445,000 Japanese language documents. The review process was complicated by the need for cost-effectiveness and adherence to cross-border eDiscovery legal requirements. Consilio responded by assembling a specialized team, including bilingual attorneys and technical experts, to implement Early Case Assessment (ECA) and Continuous Case Assessment (CCA) processes. A structured three-phase approach was adopted, utilizing analytics and proprietary tools to streamline document sorting and coding. The results achieved included significant cost savings, estimated between $1.5 million to $2.1 million, through efficient document handling and targeted review processes. The collaboration with the client ensured that all necessary information was captured, leading to high-quality outputs in both English and Japanese. The knowledge gained from this project is expected to enhance future document review processes, demonstrating Consilio's capability in providing effective eDiscovery solutions.
