This case study details the collaboration between Shanghai Cool-Air Transport Refrigeration Equipment Co., Ltd. (Cooltek) and Copeland in the development of electric air-conditioning systems for new-energy buses. The document outlines the challenges faced by Cooltek in meeting the energy efficiency requirements set by the Shanghai municipal government, which mandates that the energy efficiency ratio (EER) of air-conditioning products for electric vehicles should exceed 2.4. To address these challenges, Cooltek integrated Copeland's ZRH(V) series horizontal scroll compressors into their products, enhancing energy efficiency and ensuring reliable operation. The case study highlights the benefits of this collaboration, including improved cooling and heating performance suitable for various climates in China, reduced maintenance costs, and enhanced passenger comfort due to lower noise and vibration levels. The document emphasizes the successful deployment of over 60 air-conditioners equipped with the new compressors in buses across Shanghai and other cities, showcasing the effectiveness of the solution in real-world applications.
