Mt. SAC Implements CMT VNAs for Student Training

This case study outlines how Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) has integrated Copper Mountain Technologies (CMT) vector network analyzers (VNAs) into its Electronics Technology program. Professor Jonathan Hymer sought a cost-effective solution to provide students with practical experience in RF equipment. After discovering CMT, he acquired multiple VNAs, which, along with an RF Teaching Kit, enhanced the lab experience for students. The curriculum developed by Professor Hymer includes hands-on labs that teach VNA use, calibration, and measurement processes. The accessible software provided by CMT allows students to practice independently, facilitating a deeper understanding of RF measurements. The program has resulted in graduates who are well-prepared for the workforce, attracting interest from aerospace and defense companies in the region. This initiative reflects Mt. SAC's commitment to providing relevant, employer-focused education in the fast-evolving field of electronics.
