This case study details the challenges faced by a US-based subsidiary of a major confectionery manufacturer during an upgrade of their JD Edwards system. Initially, the manufacturer engaged a vendor for the upgrade, but the project encountered significant delays and issues, leading to dissatisfaction. The manufacturer recognized the need for automation to streamline processes but lacked the necessary product knowledge and was resistant to change. To address these challenges, they selected Corning Data as a new partner, who provided a fresh vision and roadmap. The solution included implementing various JD Edwards modules and DSI’s dcLINK for data collection. The engagement resulted in complete automation of inventory and shop floor management, significantly reducing costs and increasing efficiency. The trust established between the manufacturer and Corning Data led to further collaborations on new initiatives. The case study illustrates the importance of expert guidance and effective partnership in achieving successful technology implementations.
