This technical report discusses the development of an air defense platform by a NATO partner aimed at enhancing national security against aerial threats. The report outlines the challenges posed by medium-altitude, long-endurance unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that are commonly utilized for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions. The military customer sought to improve its air defense capabilities by integrating CRFS' passive detection and geolocation technology to identify and track enemy drones before they enter territorial airspace. The solution involved deploying a network of RFeye Nodes, which work in conjunction with existing sensor systems to provide accurate tracking data and eliminate false positives. The RFeye Receiver operates passively, allowing for long-range detection without alerting potential adversaries. As a result, the military can effectively monitor and classify UAVs, enhancing its air defense capabilities significantly and enabling proactive responses to potential threats.
