This document is a guide detailing the NCI™ With Advanced Physical Skills Mental Health Renewal Program, which aims to enhance the skills of Certified Instructors in teaching mental health interventions. The program consists of three parts: an online course covering mental health fundamentals and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® training, two classroom days for practicing safety intervention skills, and one live virtual day focusing on mental health content. Participants will learn to identify escalating behaviors, manage emotional responses, and apply effective intervention strategies during crises. The program also addresses common mental health disorders, their causes, symptoms, and the social stigmas associated with them. It emphasizes a person-centered and trauma-informed approach to care, aiming to equip instructors with the necessary tools to combat stigmas and improve crisis management in their organizations. Completion of the program awards a certificate and qualifies instructors to teach using CPI training materials.
