This case study details the hiring process improvement undertaken by Unyson Logistics, a transportation and logistics company based in St. Louis. The objective was to enhance the hiring success rate for Logistics Coordinators by integrating data-driven selection methodologies. Initially, the company achieved a 65% success rate using traditional hiring methods, which included job boards, resumes, and interviews. To address the issue of high turnover and training costs, Unyson implemented the Criteria Basic Skills Test (CBST) to assess job readiness skills, verbal and math abilities, attention to detail, and critical thinking among candidates. The results indicated a statistically significant correlation between CBST scores and employee performance rankings, revealing that candidates with higher test scores were significantly more likely to be rated as high performers. By incorporating the CBST into the hiring process, Unyson could potentially increase its hiring success rate to 82%, thereby reducing bad hires by 49%.
