This case study details the deployment of megawatt-class uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems in a critical infrastructure environment in Florida. The project aimed to ensure continuous power for real-time operations, including surveillance and system control, necessitating high-rate output and long-term stability. The facility implemented CSB's XPL8000FTFR batteries, which are part of the high-rate XPL-FT series, specifically designed for short-duration, high-power backup. Each 1MW UPS system was supported by four strings of batteries in a series configuration, providing one-hour backup runtime. The XPL-FT series features a front terminal design for easier installation and maintenance, along with pure lead construction for enhanced stability and longevity. The batteries meet UL1973 and UL1989 certifications, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. Superior Power Technologies facilitated the project, providing comprehensive support from planning to installation. The successful deployment led to the customer's decision to replace additional UPS systems with the same solution.
