This report presents the findings of CyberCX’s analysis of over 100 top consumer brands in Australia regarding their adherence to the seven Privacy by Design principles. The document outlines the evolution of privacy expectations in Australia, influenced by high-profile data breaches and regulatory changes. It discusses the implications of proposed changes to privacy laws, including enhanced rights for individuals and broader definitions of personal information. The report evaluates how well brands have integrated these principles into their web-based interfaces, assessing over 130 attributes linked to privacy practices. It highlights that no brand fully implemented all principles, with significant variations in performance across sectors. The Telecommunications & Technology sector emerged as the top performer, while the Health, Fitness & Leisure sector scored the lowest. The findings underscore the need for brands to enhance their privacy practices to build consumer trust and comply with evolving regulations.
