This case study details the development of a 1D Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) model for the coffee grinder module within a larger coffee machine system. The project utilized Modelica software to create a comprehensive model that reflects the dynamics of the grinder. The objective was to enhance understanding and facilitate improvements in the grinder's functionality and efficiency. The study outlines several challenges encountered during model development, including software exploration, component selection, and parameter correlations. Cyient's role involved addressing these challenges through a systematic methodology that included familiarization with Modelica, identifying key inputs and outputs, and developing essential transfer functions. The model underwent rigorous verification and validation against experimental data to ensure accuracy. The final model framework provided a reliable representation of the grinder system, contributing valuable insights into its performance. Customer feedback highlighted the effectiveness of the MBSE approach within the broader coffee machine system.
