Summary
This case study details the implementation of a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network rollout by a Tier 1 communication service provider (CSP) in the UK. The CSP aims to enhance digitalization across homes and businesses while achieving aggressive targets for homes passed and cost efficiency. Cyient has been a design partner since 2016, providing essential services for FTTP survey, design, and updates. The transition to XGS-PON architecture has allowed the CSP to extend fiber connections to over 420,000 homes and 6,000 businesses. Cyient utilized its proprietary automation tool, CyPlaNet, to streamline design processes, resulting in increased design throughput and reduced cycle times. The case study highlights the successful transition to new technology, efficient use of existing infrastructure, and significant improvements in design quality and delivery rates, achieving a 100% pass rate for two consecutive months. Overall, the collaboration has positioned the CSP to meet its ambitious rollout targets effectively.
