This white paper assesses the management of biodiversity impacts and dependencies by 100 of the largest companies in the Nordics, collectively valued at 1.4 trillion euros. It employs a proprietary biodiversity assessment methodology to evaluate the performance of these companies, identifying their recognition of biodiversity as a risk and opportunity. Key findings indicate that while most companies acknowledge biodiversity's relevance, many struggle with governance and establishing credible targets. The paper highlights that Danish companies lag behind their Nordic counterparts in biodiversity management quality. It also discusses the implications of the 2023 recommendations from the Taskforce on Nature-Related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) and outlines a biodiversity management quality framework designed to guide companies in integrating biodiversity into their operations. The framework aims to facilitate investor engagement and promote a nature-positive economy by providing clear indicators for assessing company performance in biodiversity management.
