This case study details the efforts of a major consumer goods organization to enhance its packaging sustainability by integrating post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials. The document outlines the deployment of Dassault Systèmes’ SIMULIA on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, which facilitated the optimization of packaging designs to reduce plastic usage while maintaining product performance. The organization aimed to minimize environmental impact and accelerate the transition to a circular economy, addressing challenges such as design-material optimization and production scalability. The study presents quantifiable results, including a significant reduction in material consumption and avoided emissions, estimated at 240 tons of CO2 equivalent for every 10 million units sold. By leveraging advanced modeling and simulation techniques, the organization achieved a higher proportion of recycled materials in its packaging, thus supporting climate change mitigation efforts. The findings emphasize the importance of real-time collaboration and data-driven decision-making in achieving sustainability goals.
