This case study details the implementation of Datalogic's Touch™ TD1120 barcode reader at Lafka convenience stores, part of the Bulgarian retail chain Tabac Market. The objective was to enhance the efficiency of their retail automation system across 850 locations, including remote areas. Lafka shops faced challenges in maintaining fast service and reliable operations in difficult-to-reach villages. After testing various barcode scanners, Lafka employees selected the Touch reader for its speed, ease of use, and ergonomic design. The implementation involved collaboration with Datalogic partner Eltrade, who integrated the barcode readers with retail software called Detelina. The solution was deployed across all locations, ensuring reliable data transfer even in areas with limited infrastructure. The results indicated an increase in productivity and sales, establishing a successful business model for future operations. The centralized system improved sales processes and customer service across the extensive network of Lafka kiosks.
