This case study details the implementation of Gryphon imagers at Antonius Hospital in Sneek, Netherlands, aimed at enhancing tracking processes for instrument sterilization and medication administration. The hospital, which serves a large patient base, transitioned from manual tracking methods to an automated system following the introduction of a new hospital information system by ChipSoft. The Gryphon imagers were selected for their ability to quickly and accurately scan barcodes at any angle, significantly reducing errors during the sterilization and medication processes. The study outlines how the imagers are utilized in the Central Sterilization Department and pharmacy, ensuring that instruments and medications are tracked effectively. The results indicate a marked improvement in operational efficiency, safety, and reliability, with the hospital reporting a reduction in errors and an increase in work satisfaction among staff. The case study underscores the benefits of automation in healthcare settings, particularly in tracking and tracing applications.
