Industrial Barcode Scanning Solution for Distribution Centers

This technical report details the implementation of Datalogic’s PowerScan™ PM8300 cordless laser readers at T.U. Distribution Centers in the Netherlands. Established in 1880, T.U. supplies various sectors including government and construction, and operates a high-volume distribution center that processes an average of 60,000 order line items daily. The report outlines the challenges faced by T.U. in maintaining efficiency during the picking process, necessitating a robust scanning system to handle high volumes of scans. The selected PowerScan PM8300 readers were chosen for their reliability and durability, designed to withstand extensive use in a fast-paced environment. The report describes the operational setup, including the seamless communication between the scanners and the back office system, and highlights the advanced features of the scanners that facilitate quick and accurate barcode scanning. The results indicate improved efficiency in inbound and picking processes, enhancing inventory management and operational flow within the distribution center.
