This technical report presents the findings of a quantitative study focused on the role of Chief Experience Officers (CXOs) and the challenges they face in organizations. The research highlights that despite the increasing prevalence of CXOs, with over 90% of companies reporting such a role, many responsibilities and decision rights remain undefined. The study surveyed 250 US-based leaders and supplemented the findings with individual interviews to explore the top five challenges identified by experience leaders. These challenges include collaborating with other leaders on experience priorities, identifying actionable experience metrics, recruiting experienced talent, investing in AI while addressing trust concerns, and making the investment case for experience. The report emphasizes the importance of cross-functional collaboration and the need for a unified approach to enhance customer and employee experiences. Additionally, it discusses potential solutions to these challenges, including the establishment of Experience Councils and the integration of experience metrics into compensation structures.
