Certificate Lifecycle Management for Ultrasound Systems

This document is a case study detailing the implementation of the KeyScaler platform by Device Authority in partnership with PTC. The primary objective was to automate device provisioning and lifecycle management for ultrasound devices using X.509 certificates. The case study outlines several key features, including automated device provisioning, which allows for secure registration of ultrasound devices to the PTC ThingWorx IoT platform without manual intervention. It also describes full identity and certificate lifecycle management, ensuring continuous device security and compliance with regulatory standards. Furthermore, the document presents dynamic device key generation to establish a unique root of trust for each device and highlights the integration of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) services for managing certificates. The conclusion notes the success of the pilot project, which began with 5,000 assets and is set to expand, demonstrating a more efficient approach to managing device certificates in a regulated environment.
