This document is a case study detailing the collaboration between Digiterre and the Securities Services division of a global bank to develop a new Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) platform. The objective was to create an on-demand data service that allows clients to select specific trade data and conduct analysis easily. The project involved reviewing the existing DaaS strategy, suggesting improvements, and designing a solution for implementing updates. Key goals included enabling faster development of customer-facing applications, building a data storefront, and ensuring data governance. The resulting Data Mesh architecture unified data from over 240 enterprise systems, providing an integrated view of client data and enabling the monetization of new data products. The architecture also ensured adherence to data governance and operational rules. The Digiterre team worked closely with various stakeholders to gather requirements and develop a roadmap for implementation, which included creating a catalogue and tooling for automated data governance.
