This case study outlines the digitization efforts undertaken by a government agency in Connecticut to improve administrative processes. The initiative involved launching a learning portal for state employees, which aimed to enhance professional skills. The agency successfully eliminated a backlog of 500 Family Medical Leave Act cases and expedited the processing of 700 retirement applications through HR automation, achieving higher accuracy rates. The digitization project utilized a process called easy.forward™, which digitized over 30,000 HR and payroll files, totaling more than 12 million pages within a year. This effort resulted in significant productivity improvements in HR functions and annual savings of $3.5 million by consolidating operations. The study details the organization of data for effective retrieval and integration into the State’s content management portal, SolutionCT, while ensuring no disruption to agency operations. The project exemplifies the benefits of digitization in enhancing service delivery and operational efficiency.
