This case study details the implementation of Donaldson Torit pleated bags in a flour milling operation. The document outlines the challenges faced by a large durum mill, which experienced significant production downtime due to frequent filter bag changeouts. The mill, producing over 500 million pounds annually, sought a solution to extend filter life and reduce operating pressure drop for energy efficiency. The recommended solution involved the use of bottom-loading, 80-inch pleated bag filters made from Spunbond media with a Polypropylene core. After more than seven months of operation, the pleated bag filters demonstrated over three times the lifespan of the previous standard bag filters while maintaining a low pressure drop of 3.5 inches or less. This resulted in notable energy savings for the mill, effectively addressing their operational challenges and enhancing overall efficiency.
