Dura-Life Filter Bags Performance Case Study

This case study details the performance of Donaldson Dura-Life filter bags in an arc furnace application. The study highlights the significant improvement in filter bag life and pressure drop (DP) maintenance compared to standard polyester bags. The maintenance manager at the facility reported that the Dura-Life filter bags lasted for 600 heats, equating to approximately 3000 hours of operation, while standard bags only lasted for 300 heats or 1500 hours. The Dura-Life bags maintained a stable DP of 4 inches of water gauge (w.g.), eliminating the need for downtime cleaning, which was necessary with the standard bags to keep DP below 6 inches w.g. The manager expressed satisfaction with the Dura-Life performance and indicated plans to switch to these filter bags for other collectors. The case study emphasizes the operational benefits of using Dura-Life filter bags in terms of longevity and reduced maintenance requirements.
