This case study examines the performance of Dura-Life filter bags used in a Donaldson Torit HPT dust collector within a foundry setting. The study highlights the significant improvement in filter life, demonstrating that Dura-Life bags yield five times longer life compared to conventional polyester filter bags, which typically last 6 to 8 months. The foundry faced issues with high differential pressure (ΔP) that often reached 5 inches shortly after installation, leading to frequent replacements. However, after switching to Dura-Life bags, the ΔP remained at only 4.5 inches after 15 months of operation, indicating a substantial reduction in maintenance needs. The plant manager reported successful ongoing stack emissions tests, confirming that the Dura-Life bags continue to perform effectively. This case study provides detailed insights into the operational benefits of using advanced filter media in industrial applications, specifically in alloy casting operations.
