This case study details the performance improvement achieved by replacing Farr GoldCone filters with Donaldson Torit Ultra-Web cartridge filters in a laser cutter used for industrial ceramic dust. The ceramics manufacturer faced challenges with short filter life, requiring maintenance every three weeks, which led to increased downtime and energy costs. The switch to Ultra-Web filters resulted in a significant increase in filter life, lasting 1000 operational hours compared to the 360 hours of the Farr filters. Additionally, the pressure drop was reduced from 6 inches of water gauge to a stabilized 4 inches, allowing for continuous operation during shifts without maintenance interruptions. The transition not only minimized maintenance time and costs but also enhanced production uptime, demonstrating the effectiveness of the Ultra-Web filters in this specific application. The findings underscore the benefits of utilizing advanced filtration technology in industrial settings.
