This case study details how Nomura, a global financial services firm, addressed significant challenges in its data infrastructure, particularly with Hadoop. The firm faced issues related to handling large volumes of data, with 1.8 billion rows processed daily, which resulted in frequent production outages and difficulties in system diagnostics. To overcome these challenges, Nomura integrated Dremio to enhance performance and stability. The solution included upgrading their Grafana dashboard for better monitoring, creating a hybrid data platform that combined on-premises and cloud environments, and transitioning from Hadoop to MinIO. These changes led to a 13.9% increase in performance and improved system diagnostics. The case study outlines the steps taken by Nomura to modernize their data platform, ensuring it could support intensive workloads and regulatory requirements while paving the way for future hybrid cloud integrations. The integration of Dremio was pivotal in optimizing their data processing capabilities and enhancing overall system stability.
