This case study presents a solution developed by DuPont to address chassis and powertrain noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) challenges while supporting sustainability goals in the automotive industry. It outlines the growing demand for automotive suppliers to participate in sustainability initiatives and act on climate change. The case details a customer's need for a bonding solution for various chassis and powertrain components, particularly safety parts, that would provide durability and address NVH issues. DuPont introduced its MEGUM™ water-based one-coat bonding agent, which is a first-to-market product designed to meet these requirements. The study highlights the performance of the new primer, which not only improved ride comfort and reduced noise but also eliminated the need for solvent-based products, thus supporting the customer's sustainability objectives. The water-based bonding agent was compatible with existing equipment, making it a viable solution for manufacturers aiming for sustainable practices.
