This case study details the challenges faced by UK airports, including Gatwick, Stansted, and Heathrow, in maintaining robust electrical infrastructure critical for operations. The airports handle millions of passengers annually, and disruptions in electrical systems can lead to operational delays and safety concerns. To address these challenges, UK Power Networks Services adopted EA Technology’s Invest offering, which focuses on proactive electrical asset management. Key steps in the solution included implementing the Common Network Asset Indices Methodology for high-voltage network assets, providing an Asset Management dashboard for visualizing asset health and risk, and utilizing Investment Decision Support tools for predicting asset performance. The results of this initiative included proactive risk management through early detection of asset degradation, optimized maintenance budgets, and ensured operational continuity, enhancing passenger safety and satisfaction. Overall, the proactive approach strengthened the resilience and reliability of critical electrical infrastructure at key UK airports.
