This case study outlines a proactive partial discharge (PD) survey conducted by EA Technology at a luxury hospitality and events venue in Abu Dhabi, which required high energy reliability for critical infrastructure. The survey aimed to identify early signs of insulation degradation and environmental stress to prevent potential failures in high-voltage assets. The assessment involved testing 11 high-voltage switchboards using the UltraTEV Plus2 and Locator2 to measure transient earth voltage and ultrasonic PD activity. Key findings revealed insulation defects, elevated humidity levels, and high electromagnetic interference around generator switchboards. The results indicated that all switchboards were suitable for Astute Monitoring installation, facilitating continuous tracking of insulation conditions. The project demonstrates the importance of early diagnostics and expert intervention in preventing failures and enhancing operational resilience in mission-critical environments. By addressing developing issues and environmental risks, EA Technology laid the groundwork for long-term condition monitoring.
