This case study details the collaboration between EarthSoft and Eurofins Environment Testing US to validate a digital workflow connecting the EarthSoft EQuIS Environmental Data Management System (EDMS) with the EETUS network Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). The primary challenge addressed was the inefficiency of manual and paper-based workflows in environmental projects, which increased the risk of data handling errors. The pilot project introduced a direct digital connection that enabled seamless data flow from the laboratory to project workspaces, thereby reducing operational costs and eliminating transcription errors. The study outlines the enhancements made to the LIMS, including the generation of electronic contracts and the automatic ingestion of eCOC XML files, which linked field sampling data directly to laboratory processes. The results indicated significant improvements in data accuracy and operational efficiency, setting the stage for broader adoption of digital workflows across environmental testing operations in the United States.
