This report presents the findings of a research study conducted by East Midlands Chamber in collaboration with emh Group, focusing on the attitudes and approaches of over 300 businesses in the East Midlands towards equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). The study, which followed a similar investigation from the previous year, highlights the evolving landscape of EDI policies within organizations, noting a significant increase in businesses with specific EDI policies, rising from 54% to 67%. The report details various aspects of EDI discussions among leadership teams, barriers to effective EDI policies, and the perceived benefits of engaging with EDI. Additionally, it outlines recommendations for businesses and political leaders to enhance EDI practices, emphasizing the importance of training, awareness, and collaboration. The survey results indicate a growing recognition of EDI's role in fostering inclusive workplaces, although challenges remain in fully integrating these practices into business strategies.
