Further Education College Group Reporting Transformation

This document is a case study detailing the transformation of reporting and budgeting processes at a leading UK further education college group. The college group aimed to upgrade their financial management software from Infor SunSystems v4 to v6 to accommodate expansion and evolving requirements. The upgrade necessitated a review of existing Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports, which could not be directly upgraded due to structural differences. Eclipse was engaged to explore alternatives and recommended implementing Sharperlight as a cost-effective and efficient solution. The transition to Sharperlight allowed for the re-writing of reports, granting cost centre managers self-service access through a web portal. This upgrade enhanced the budgeting process by enabling budget holders to allocate funds across college terms, thus improving real-time budget control. The implementation of Sharperlight has streamlined reporting, minimized overspending, and reduced manual tasks within the organization, leading to improved decision-making capabilities for staff.
