Supporting Cross Domain Solutions for National Security

This technical report outlines the significance of cross domain solutions (CDS) in the context of U.S. Federal Agencies' information exchange. It describes the establishment of the National Cross Domain Strategy and Management Office (NCDSMO) and its initiatives, including the Raise The Bar (RTB) initiative, aimed at enhancing the security of CDS systems against vulnerabilities and persistent threats. The report details the challenges faced by CDS devices, particularly concerning firmware security and supply chain risks. It emphasizes the need for effective measures to ensure the integrity of hardware and firmware components. Furthermore, the report presents Eclypsium's automated solution for verifying the integrity and posture of CDS systems throughout their lifecycle, including during system production and operation. The solution includes scanning capabilities to ensure that all components are authentic and up to date, thereby mitigating risks associated with firmware vulnerabilities and supply chain complexities.
