This report presents a comprehensive analysis of the cultural dynamics within family businesses, detailing the findings of a study conducted by Egon Zehnder and the Family Business Network (FBN). It outlines the significance of culture as a critical factor in the success of family enterprises, emphasizing that a strong culture is essential for overcoming challenges and enhancing performance. The study surveyed 300 family business owners across multiple global regions and incorporated interviews with 86 leaders from various generations. A major finding is that while 88% of participants recognize the importance of a robust culture, only 39% feel their organization is adequately prepared for future challenges. The report introduces a three-phase model for effective culture change and offers best practices for leadership transitions, aiming to bridge generational gaps and ensure a smooth transfer of values and vision within family businesses. Overall, it serves as a guide for fostering a cohesive and adaptive culture that supports long-term business success.
