Impact Assessment of EGF’s CSR Support for Oxygen Plant Projects

This report is an impact assessment of the Eicher Group Foundation's (EGF) financial support for oxygen plant projects in five hospitals located in Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, and Manipur during the fiscal year 2021-2022. The assessment, conducted by Samhita Social Ventures, utilized a qualitative research design that included in-depth interviews and secondary research to evaluate the project's impact using the IRECS framework, which focuses on inclusiveness, relevance, efficiency and effectiveness, convergence, and service delivery. The initiative aimed to address the medical oxygen demand-supply problem that intensified during the COVID-19 pandemic. Key findings indicate notable improvements in patient care, particularly in intensive care units and pediatric wards, and reduced logistical challenges during the pandemic's second wave. However, challenges such as high operational expenses in smaller hospitals were noted, suggesting the need for alternative solutions like oxygen concentrators and improved health infrastructure to ensure sustainability and effectiveness in oxygen supply.
