This case study details the deployment of a Wi-Fi 7 network at HPE Discover 2024, a major IT conference held in Las Vegas. The event aimed to provide seamless connectivity for approximately 16,000 attendees and over 20,000 devices. The project was led by Josh Schmelzle from HPE Aruba Networking, who utilized Ekahau's AI Pro tool for network design and validation. The study outlines the challenges faced, including the need for reliable connectivity in a dynamic environment with evolving floor plans. The team strategically positioned 176 HPE Aruba AP735 access points and effectively utilized the 6 GHz spectrum. The results demonstrated the network's capability to support over 15,000 clients, including more than 500 Wi-Fi 7 devices, and validated the network's performance in real-time. The case study emphasizes the importance of advanced planning tools and real-time analysis in ensuring successful network deployment at large-scale events.
