This case study details the implementation of AEGIS® PRO Bearing Protection Rings at the Monarch Cement Company in Humboldt, Kansas. The company faced chronic bearing damage in its ball mill motor, which had required multiple replacements since its installation in 2001. To address this issue, the electrical supervisor, Randy Riebel, opted for the AEGIS® PRO Bearing Protection Ring, designed to channel harmful electrical currents away from bearings to ground. This maintenance-free solution has been effective in extending the life of medium-voltage motors and generators. Following the successful installation on the ball mill motor, the company has since adopted the PRO Ring for additional motors, including those controlled by variable frequency drives (VFDs). The results have shown reduced downtime and maintenance costs, with low shaft voltage readings indicating effective long-term protection. The case study highlights the benefits of the AEGIS® PRO Ring in enhancing motor reliability and operational efficiency.
