Data Center Control System Upgrade Overview

This document is a case study detailing the upgrade of a data center control and monitoring solution by a power and cooling company in the eastern U.S. The company faced the challenge of upgrading its aging Series 90-30 PLCs to modern technology without incurring downtime, which is critical for their operations. The selected solution was the PACSystems RX3i controllers, chosen for their high availability, built-in cybersecurity features, and backward compatibility with existing I/Os. The upgrade process was streamlined, allowing for rapid implementation without the need for re-wiring, thus saving time and costs. The PACSystems RX3i controllers facilitate complex resource management and provide user-friendly interfaces for operations and troubleshooting. This upgrade not only enhanced the system's capabilities but also ensured continuous operation during the transition, demonstrating the effectiveness of the chosen technology in maintaining high availability in data center environments.
