This report presents the findings of a survey conducted by Gartner Peer Community and Enavate, which aimed to understand how technology decision-makers are addressing recession strategies and investment planning. The survey, conducted from February 2 to March 31, 2023, included 100 respondents from IT, InfoSec, and Engineering leadership roles. The results indicate that a significant majority of respondents (86%) believe a recession is likely, with 59% agreeing that global inflation will greatly impact their organizations. Despite these concerns, over half (58%) feel well-prepared to manage potential economic challenges. The report also highlights that most leaders plan to maintain or increase their IT budgets, with a focus on reporting and analytics tools, CRM, and ERP systems. Additionally, the survey reveals that many organizations are considering outsourcing IT functions due to bandwidth and expertise challenges, with 57% planning to increase investments in IT outsourcing. The findings reflect the current sentiment and strategic planning among technology leaders amid economic uncertainty.
