This document is a factsheet detailing the Energy Recovery Center (ERC) operated in partnership with Vyncke, located in Uzwil, Switzerland. The ERC aims to utilize side streams generated in the industry to promote a closed-loop economy, reducing waste and optimizing energy yield. It is designed to provide heating for Bühler offices using biomass from other centers, employing suitable fuels such as cocoa shells and rice husks. The ERC is unique as it is the only application center of its kind, allowing for customer trials to assess the combustion potential of various side streams. Parameters such as fuel quality, combustion yield, and emissions are evaluated during research and development tests. The facility integrates Bühler’s expertise in biomass processing with Vyncke’s combustion technology, aiming for improved energy efficiency and reduced emissions. The ERC is supported by the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Testing and Research (EMPA) to enhance the evaluation of results and applications.
