This case study outlines the collaboration between Co-op Funeralcare and Equal Experts to enhance funeral planning through digital transformation. Co-op Funeralcare, the largest funeral service provider in the UK, aimed to streamline its operations by reducing paperwork and improving customer service. The existing manual processes required staff to fill out numerous paper forms, which hindered their ability to focus on client interactions. Equal Experts was tasked with developing a seamless digital service that would support various operational activities, including call handling and funeral arrangements. The project involved extensive user testing with Co-op staff to ensure the service met their needs. The implementation of an intuitive interface and agile methodologies, including rapid sprints and a Kanban approach, facilitated a smooth transition. As a result, Co-op Funeralcare reported significant operational efficiencies, achieving £3 million in annual savings. The project not only improved internal processes but also set a new standard for the funeral industry.
