This case study details the implementation of a cloud-based remote sensing solution by APA Group to enhance the monitoring of their extensive gas transmission pipeline network in Australia. The document outlines the challenges faced by APA, including the inefficiencies and high costs associated with traditional ground patrols for monitoring potential gas leaks and vegetation issues. To address these challenges, APA partnered with Esri Australia to utilize the ArcGIS Image Dedicated product, which significantly reduced imagery processing time from several days to under a day. The solution enabled real-time updates and comprehensive monthly inspections, thereby improving decision-making processes and operational efficiency. The case study also highlights the environmental benefits of reducing carbon emissions associated with vehicle patrols. By building a long-term repository of imagery, APA has set a new industry standard for pipeline monitoring, demonstrating the effectiveness of remote asset inspections in managing infrastructure.
