This case study documents the implementation of Rialto at the National University of Ireland, Galway, focusing on its impact on the ordering process and ebook activations. The university joined the Rialto Early Adopter program in 2019, collaborating with Rialto's product team to provide feedback and enhance the system. By July 2020, despite the challenges of COVID-19 lockdown, NUI Galway successfully transitioned to Rialto, benefiting from a streamlined workflow for purchase requests and ebook activations. The case study outlines how Rialto improved efficiency by allowing users to place orders directly through the library's catalog, reducing reliance on emails and paper. It also discusses the integration of ebook activation through the Alma Community Zone, which simplified inventory updates. Additionally, the case study highlights Rialto's collection building capabilities, enabling libraries to find alternatives for requested titles. Overall, the implementation of Rialto has resulted in significant time savings and improved operational efficiency for NUI Galway's library services.
