This research report presents findings from the State of Threat Detection, Investigation, and Response 2023 study, commissioned by Exabeam and conducted by IDC. The study surveyed over 1,100 senior security and IT professionals across eight countries to assess their organizations' threat detection, investigation, and response (TDIR) capabilities. It reveals that more than 90% of respondents believe they are capable of detecting cyberthreats effectively. However, 57% reported experiencing significant security incidents in the past year, indicating ongoing challenges despite high confidence levels. The report outlines that many organizations have automated TDIR workflows, leading to operational efficiencies and improved security postures. Nonetheless, limited visibility into IT environments and time-consuming investigation processes remain significant concerns. The findings suggest that continuous investment in automation and training is necessary to address knowledge gaps and enhance overall TDIR capabilities. The report underscores the importance of recognizing the evolving cybersecurity landscape and the need for organizations to adapt proactively.
